Islander Sailboat, a brief history...

Around 1955 a sailboat builder named Joseph McGlasson designed, built and sold a 24 foot wooden sailboat called the Islander. In 1961 Mr. McGlasson began building these Islander Sailboats out of fiberglass using a wooden hull to create the mold. An interesting aspect of this transition, or"birthing process" if you will, is that the original mold for the Islander Sailboat carried the lines from the boards used in the construction of the wooden boats hull.
