Symbol Yachts was founded in 1982 as the first production boat builder of planing hulls in Taiwan. Founder and current CEO Jimmy Cheng had accumulated vast experience in Taiwan's Yacht Industry before founding Symbol, working for a number of then famous builders in Taiwan.

Starting as an OEM-builder for some well-known American and European organizations, Symbol moved on quickly to build their own boats, designed by renowned Australian naval architects.

Symbol Yacht's facilities cover an area of over 90,000 square feet with more than 2/3rds of that under cover, situated only a short 15 minute drive from Kaohsiung International Airport. With our dedicated, well trained and experienced work force, most with more than 25 years experience in the industry, we build a variety of fine Motoryachts up to a length of 80'.

We have a good, solid record of meting ABS-standards for our products, demonstrated, amongst others, by a 58' Yacht Fisherman we built for the government of Queensland, as well as the PIL 45 Harbour Launch built for Hong Kong.

It was a moment of profound significance, when Jack W. Sarin, one of North America's top naval architects, decided in 1998 to be the exclusive designer for Symbol Yachts. The resulting Symbol 62'/66' Pilothouse is everything an owner-skipper could ever want in a luxury yacht, and she is the first product of the long term relationship between Symbol and Jack W. Sarin, with many more to come. Our product range currently entails the 42' ''Trawler Series'', with a 46'/47' version becoming available in the year 2001, the 50', 55', 62', 66' and 77' ''Pilothouse Series'', as well as the 47', 51', 57', 62', 66', 75' and 80' ''Motoryacht Series''.
