OLYMPIAN, a 1913 P-Class sloop has undergone a 12-year restoration at Brooklin Boat Yard. Built for racing with minimal accommodations, OLYMPIAN has been almost entirely rebuilt and redesigned for family cruising. Fitted with an inboard engine, an easier to handle carbon rig, and a cabin with full galley and comfortable sleeping for four. Designed by William Gardner with a sharp spoon bow, round bilge with a deep full keel and transom stern. She is sloop rigged with a carbon fibre mast, stepped through the cabin top and lands on a mast step on floor timbers. In the 1990's she was re-framed, re-planked and the house sides were replaced. Latter 1990's into 2000's she was rewired and had new electronics. In 2000, a new carbon fibre mast and aluminum boom were made for OLYMPIAN. The most recent work was this past winter where she got a new forefoot, new plank keel, new ballast keel, new deadwood, new bronze floor plates and new keel bolts. In addition, she received almost all new standing rod rigging and has been re-rigged with new running backs. New halyards have been installed as well all new running rigging. A new Yanmar diesel model #3YM30 was installed in 2005. All brightwork, exterior and interior were refinished this past winter. Her sail inventory is extensive, fresh and complete. OLYMPIAN is currently located in Newport, Rhode Island while racing in many of the classic boat regattas. OLYMPIAN is in excellent condition both structurally and cosmetically. She can be inspeced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is a thrill to see and sail.
