History
Willard built this hull on spec in 1979 on the West coast.
The first owner bought the hull in the mid-80's and immediately had Willard further reinforce the already beefy hull in the bilge areas so she could lay over on her bilge at low water without damage. Either concrete or lead ballast was glassed in at that time.
He then brought the hull to Sausalito and had the superstructure built over a number of years. She was finally launched in 1995.
She was used for only 1 year and then sold (because of health problems) in the winter of 96/97. This Owner had the superstructure finished in Awlgrip and then trucked her to Maine in "98, where the hull was also finished in dark green Awlgrip by Custom Coatings of Thomaston. At the time of that transfer, there were only 807 hours on the engine. She was used for 2 seasons out of Rockport and then sold to second owner in MA.
The second Owner bought her in 2004 and used her as his personal yacht while building a bigger one. He had her surveyed, and performed all suggested tasks. Copy of that survey and notes available.
Second Owner sold her to current Owner in Oct. 2006 and she went directly to Benjamin River Marine for the winter. Owner had all new cushions made and new carpeting. Also had the dinette made convertible into a 3rd bunk, which is quite comfortable.
The hull is molded fiberglass and both the deck and cabin tops are plywood overlaid with fiberglass. All 12 opening ports were removed and rebedded in 2004 and new safety glass and gaskets installed. New starter motor 2004 and all house batteries new in 2005, also new dodger. New custom fabricated bronze skeg in '05, also new Grocco marine head. This was rebuilt in '08. New Standard 1000 GPS chart plotter in '07. New microwave '07. Fender guard installed around edge of boarding platform aft.
Owner used her locally and cruised from Maine to Mystic, CT in '07. The stability poles are easy to deploy and are very effective in smoothing out the ride in rough water. Cruising speed average 61/2 kts. Tachometer quit during that cruise and has been replaced. Engine hours approx. 1700. Fuel usage about 1.5 gals/hr. 62 hp Perkins diesel highly reliable.
