The Viking 45 Convertible is one of those rare cases where the product is so well-matched to the market that her success was assured. (Indeed, 250 were built during a very successful six year production run.) A superb blend of good looks and impressive performance, she's constructed on Viking's standard modified-V hull form with moderate transom deadrise, a wide beam, and balsa coring in the hull sides. Originally offered with a choice of two stateroom/ two head or dinette/ two head floorplan, in late 1988 a spacious dinette/ two stateroom layout became available at the expense of one of the head compartments. Both floor plans feature a mid-level galley, and the beautiful teak interior woodwork and stylish decor package are most impressive. The cockpit is set up for serious fishing (molded tackle center, transom door, etc.), and the big fly bridge will seat eight comfortably. Additional features include a full teak interior, a well-arranged engine room, wide sidedecks, and solid steel I-beam engine room. A good performer, the 550-hp 6V92s will cruise at 27 knots, and reach a top speed of 30 knots.
