Introduction Few yachts enjoy the kind of refit that "Evening Star" has had. The listing notes the details, but an overview will help. First, about 80% of the exterior has been painted including all the black feature stripes. The windows were stripped, primed and painted. Many new lights were installed. All the floorings are new throughout the boat. All the soft goods are new, including the carpets, drapes, bedspreads, shams, pillows and even the mattresses. Virtually all of the electronics are new, at a cost of over $95,000, and most are duplicated on the Flying Bridge as well as at the helm station. (And all are of the highest quality). One engine was completely rebuilt. (The other did not need it.) The generator is new. The AC units are updated. New single lever ZF controls are at both helm stations. There is new canvas including a new double Bimini. The décor is all new and very attractive. All the woodwork has been refinished. In short, the "Evening Star" has been brought up to a level of a nearly new yacht.
Accommodations The guest stateroom all the way forward has Upper and Lower Berths with new mattresses, pillows, shams, sheets and bedspreads! There is a closet, a leather bench seat, 2 big drawers, 2 cabinets (one of which holds a TV) and an escape hatch. The flooring is new. A pair of cabinet doors in the front bulkhead open to the chain locker. There are 3 overhead lights and a stereo speaker. Adjacent is the head and shower with a vacu-flush fresh water toilet, towel rack, soap dish and a medicine cabinet.
Next aft to port is another stateroom with a double bunk set against the hull. There is a teak table that folds up against the inner wall designed to be used as a desk while sitting on a bunk. The mattress is new, as are the pillows, sheets, coverlet, drapes and valance coverings. The floor is new, laid in the same material as some of the new Hatterases. There are 9 throw pillows, a throw rug, stereo speakers, 2 overhead lights, a night stand, a picture decorates the wall, and there is a large mirror. The teak closet door, like all the closet doors, is louvered for ventilation.
The Starboard Guest Stateroom has twin lower berths with a table between them. The table has one drawer and a cabinet plus a lamp. There is an intercom telephone on the wall. A large hanging closet plus 5 drawers provides very adequate storage. The mattresses, bedspread, pillows and linens are all new. There are four regular pillows and 6 throw pillows, all new. Two paintings hang on the walls. Both the drapes and valance coverings are new. And, like the other staterooms, the floor is new.
The adjoining head also has a door at the bottom of the stairwell so it can be used as a day head. It has a separate stall shower, mirrored medicine cabinet, a vacu-flush fresh water head, soap dish, towel racks and storage cabinets under the sink.
The Master Stateroom is beautifully finished in high gloss teak like all the interior woodwork in the boat. This is an extraordinarily spacious room, with a King Sized centerline bed, three huge cedar lined closets along the port wall, two side tables and lamps by the bed, an L-shaped settee in the aft starboard corner, a dressing table and chair, forward to port (just aft of the head), additional storage to starboard, including a 37" flat screen TV, plus a lounge area with a couch that can be pulled out to make a bed. This room is carpeted with sculptured sections. The blue portions of the carpet match the color of the drapes. This is very nicely decorated with attractive lamps and a bedside table, well chosen fabrics and small items. As with all the staterooms, the mattresses are new as are the linens, shams, bedspreads and pillows. There are 3 throw pillows on the settee and 5 more on the bed. Nine lights are set in the overhead on 2 separate switches. There is rope lighting around the base of the bed. There are 13 drawers for storage. The dressing table has a lift up top with storage inside it and large mirror on the wall surround with light bulbs. The chair is clear Plexiglas.
The lounge area is like a den with its own side table, a large lamp hung on the wall and a picture hung on the side wall. Six beveled mirrors are along the aft bulkhead behind the bed. The general feeling is one of luxurious spaciousness done in high quality soft goods and beautifully finished teak.
The Master Head has a twin porcelain sink to port, a large closet and a full size Jacuzzi tub is to starboard. The floor is new. The back wall of the sink countertop is all mirrors. The head is a vacu-flush fresh water head. There are 3 towel holders, two soap dishes, two glass holders and both faucets are gold finished. A throw rug is in front of the sliding glass door. There is a vent fan and ample lighting and storage.
Galley This on-deck Galley has lots of natural light from the big window along the portside, plus a pass-thru to the Pilothouse and an opening over the counter to the Dining Area, which can be shut off with louvered, teak, bi-fold shutters. Remarks The present owner purchased "EVENING STAR" about a year ago and has spent months refitting the boat in all departments. Not including décor items such as carpets and drapes, pillows and shams, pictures and other items, roughly $370,000 has been spent to make this the best 63' Viking Motor Yacht on the water . A complete change of plans causes the sale and some very fortunate buyer will reap the benefits. A careful reading will clearly show the upgrading of the boat from being "average" to being virtually "as new". It would not be possible to improve on the electronics. All machinery is new, rebuilt or in excellent running order (including the one Main Engine that was found not to need rebuilding).
Much of the exterior has been painted including the foredeck, part of the Flying Bridge and the black features stripes. The pilothouse windows were painted. All of the other window frames were stripped, primed and repainted. Virtually every soft good in the boat is new and tastefully done with the highest quality materials.
This is an outstanding offering. The 63 Viking Motor yacht design is acknowledged to be the roomiest, most spacious in its size range. Your inspection is invited.
