Accommodation CEILIDH offers a unique custom arrangement plan which offers full privacy for two couples in two cabins, each with ensuite head and shower.
Beginning forward is the owner's cabin with tapered, centerline berth, accessible from either side. Aft to port is a sink and vanity. Abundant storage is available in drawers below the berth and in hanging lockers to each side. Next aft are head and shower compartments on opposite sides of the boat, a Shannon trademark.
The main saloon features an L shaped settee to starboard and a straight settee with center armrest to port. A drop-leaf table serves both. A clever custom stool mounts under the table to accomodate additional dinner guests. the table itself if a custom effort of varnished teak with an artistic inlay at the centerpoint. Cabinetry above and outboard includes bookshelves and entertainment components. The visual centerpiece of the saloon is a Luke soapstone fireplace with polished copper backsplash.
Galley is to port at the companionway and includes Corian countertops with integral sinks. Grunnert holdover refrigeration is mounted in in a well insulated icebox with top and side openings and remote temperature gauges for both fridge and freezer spaces, Broadwater four burner LPG stove with broiler/oven and Xintex S-2A detector & solenoid switch (two 11 lb. propane bottles in dedicated cockpit locker), deep double sink with H&C, manual cold and filtered water taps and GE microwave. Galleyware storage is available outboard and in a custom overhead rack, food and provision storage is plentiful.
To starboard at the companionway is the aft head compartment, which open into the aft cabin. Aft berth is of generous proportions and is arranged athwartship. This configuration allows formal two-cabin privacy, each with ensuite head/shower.
Aft to port is the navigation station with comfortable swivel chair and access to the ship's electrical panels. Components are nicely recessed and work space is adequate, communication with the helmsperson is easy. A very unique feature is a small door opening aft of the nav station into the port lazarette locker which provides vast storage and also quick, all weather access to pumps and compressors.
Interior fit and finish is to Shannon's typically high standards with varnished teak/holly soles (authentic - not plywood), satin varnished teak interior, ash hull ceilings, simulated white staving headliner and white panel finish around portlights. It is worth noting that the entire interior of a Shannon is "stick-built" - and hand assembled and individually fastened, glued and bunged. The structure does not move, creak or groan as most production sailboats do.
Remarks CEILIDH is hull # 42 in the highly successful (1985 to present) build history of these well-rounded cruisers. She offers an innovative arrangement plan and features the desirable Scutter rig. Engine time suggests light use of about 100 hours per year. Her owners no longer have time to cruise and she represents a well-priced opportunity for a new owner.
