From the Fjords of Sweden and Finland to the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan, BACCHANT has always been BACCHANT. She combines the beauty of sailing and the beauty of wood through generations of fine workmanship.Commissioned by Eric Lundgren in 1936, an avid racing sailor, she was to be an evolution of the 75 square meter class which was popular in Sweden during the 20's and 30's. Designed by Knud Reimers and built by Plyms, BACCHANT was a continuation of Reimer's innovative light displacement designs in the 22 and 30 squre meter classes.
BACCHANT has been kept modern. Continuous improvement and upgrading has been the goal of BACCHANT's maintenance program. She has been stored inside in a controlled environment maintaining 50 degree temperature and 70% humidity. Extensive modern sail inventory both race and cruise. Modern hardware additions include: 3DK sails, state of the art navigation equipment, main sheet traveler, aluminum spar, carbon fiber boom and pole, increased fore triangle, skeg and rudder aft and the support structure to handle the increased loads. These additions have been blended seamlessly with the traditional look and glowing mahogany that is BACCHANT.
