The U-shaped galley is located to port and is equipped with four burner Villa propane stove, Magic Chef microwave, water heater, pressure water system and double sink. In October 2005 the freezer was converted to a second refrigerator affording 2 large units. The dinette is adjacent with a settee opposite to starboard. There is a second head and shower on the starboard side.

Construction Designed specifically to be sea kindly and easily handled by a couple offshore. Airex foam core, fiberglass vessel, laid up in a male mold. She has a solid fiberglass "spine" 50cm wide from stem to stern and she was constructed according to New Zealand's highest category one standard. Plywood transverse bulkheads reinforce the hull shell. The lead ballast (7 tons or 40%) and shallow fin keel which incorporates the centerboard.
The decks are laminated plywood over the bulkheads and fore and aft stringers. The deck, cabin tops and cockpit sole have a teak batten overlay. The battens are bonded and fastened to the marine plywood sub deck. The hatches are polycarbonate, set in external rebates and finished with metal surroundings. The ports are tempered glass.
The main mast is keel stepped with the loading accepted by blocking between two transverse floors in the forward bilge. The mizzen mast is deck stepped over a bulkhead with the load transmitted to the aft bilge structure.

Girasol is a very experienced cruising boat that has logged many 200 nautical miles days without incident. During most of the sailing days, full of gear, she sailed near hull speed in 20 plus knots of wind.
She was refit in 1993 by her second owner and again in 1997 by her present owner. Recently she has had many upgrades which include a new Volvo engine, Schaefer in-boom furling on the mizzen, VariProp 4-blade propeller, new computers, GPS, Iridium phone, AGM batteries. She is offered fully found with galleyware, spares and tools.
