Sails and Rigging High-tech carbon fiber mast, booms and spars. Custom engineered to the exact specifications given by the vessels design. As a result these carbon spars are up to 30% lighter and much stiffer then an equivalent aluminum rig. Each carbon fiber mast is laid-up in a female mold. We use a vacuum assisted resin transfer method to assure an optimal wet-out of the fibers. The resin utilized is a specially formulated epoxy which we combine with unidirectional and biaxial carbon fiber. With this technique we achieve a ratio of 60% fiber to 40% resin.
