In the late 70s, the Morgan Out Island 41' opened up the charter trade in the Caribbean.? Why not?? The bare boater's dream slept 8 "good friends" in 3 huge cabins and was beamy enough for all.? The only problem with the boat was that she wouldn't sail to windward worth a darn.? Her long full keel, wide sheeting angles and high wetted surface made her a tank.? Who cared?? When you have 7 days in paradise and the wind is against you, you simply sail in the other direction.? That was OK for the charter pilots but the cruisers wanted something more.
Along came the Morgan 43' with a modern shoal draft fin keel, higher sail area to displacement ratios and all the comforts of home down below;
Two huge staterooms, two heads and a galley that would make a seagoing chef out of a simple cook.
