It is widely known that Jeanneau makes one of the best production boats on the market. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35 is a yacht to please all sailors. With the same hull as the Sun Fast 35 racer, she is a brisk performer with perfect balance and very impressive acceleration, yet a very stable cruiser that is comfortable and secure in fresher winds. She sails high to windward, and tacks smoothly and effortlessly with a single hand. She sails swiftly in light air, yet maintains remarkable and comfortable balance in heavy winds.
The wide, non-skid side decks provide excellent traction for going forward while under way, and all lines come conveniently back to the cockpit. Furthermore, all instrumentation, the chartplotter, and the VHF marine radio, are mounted at the helm.
Down below, the Jeanneau 35 is incredibly spacious and well thought out. In fact, the interior layout is the same as the Jeanneau 37, with even more hatches for better ventilation. There is air conditioning (and reverse heat) with dockside power, as well as an inverter for 110v electric afloat. A well-appointed L-shaped galley, a large head/shower combo, roomy double berths with plenty of storage, and a light and warm, teak-finished salon make this a truly fine vessel for an extended cruise.
Jeannneau construction is a world apart from other production boats. They are truly built to last. When you consider things like the massive and solid stringer structure, the hand-lay-up fiberglass process, Kevlar-reinforced high stress areas, incomparable bonding & resin lamination, and authentic Burmese teak for its cockpit, bulkheads and interior furnishings; it's hard to consider a lesser boat.
Accommodations
Starting at the forepeak, the forward stateroom is spacious and cheery feeling, well illuminated and well thought out. There is a cubby bin forward and shelves going down both sides above the berth. On starboard there is a hanging locker with clever internal bins behind the rod as well as at the bottom of the locker. Across one finds a nightstand with double doors below it and another double doored locker above it. Additional storage is located beneath the berth. There is a 12 volt fan and an overhead hatch for ventilation.
Moving aft into the saloon, the entire space is inviting and well lit- none of that "down in a cave feeling" in this boat! Rich burmese teak and easy to wipe down white leather upholstery lend a feeling of elegance. Cushion covers are all removable for easy off-cushion cleaning if necessary. Window treatments are tasteful and functional. The white overhead keeps it bright, while the sunshades built into the hatches, curtains and port shades keep the sun out when you want to. On starboard there is a U-shaped dinette, with a table and filler that can be adjusted into three positions depending on the number of diners or table space desired. Across on port there is a straight settee. Behind and below each berth are equipment and storage spaces, while behind and above each of them are drop front lockers, open shelves and opening portholes.
The nav station on port is flexible and really creative- a sliding chart table can be moved along a track on the hull side to have it facing forward or aft. The flexible chart light accomodates either position comfortably. In the forward facing position there is a curved navigation seat with storage below it. In the aft facing position the settee is three instead of two cushions wide, so the choice is yours and it converts in seconds. There is a spacious hanging locker aft of the nav seat with a large shelf space above it.
Aft on starboard is the L-shaped galley. A tinted glass divider screen separates the dinette area from the counter. Towards centerline, a double stainless steel sink area provides lots of clean up room and there is a swing-out trash bin, cabinet and drawer storage beneath it. Along the hull is a spacious refrigerated ice box and a two burner stove and oven. Sliding cabinet doors behind these provide plenty of storage space for your goods. A halogen light strip illuminates the work area and an overhead hatch helps provide ventilation.
Moving aft from the galley you find the second stateroom. Immediately on the left upon entering is a hanging locker with a shelf above it. A shelf runs the length of the hull aft. There are two reading lights, a 12 volt fan and two opening ports for lighting and ventilation. The berth itself has a nightstand area on top of the engine compartment and has good headroom. The berth is about 6'6" x 6'6", so there is plenty of room for a couple.
On the opposite side of the companionway is the head. Two areas, both of which are in easy to maintain molded fiberglass for quick wipe downs. You enter into the sink area, There is a stainless steel wash basin, with storage below the sink and a mirrored medecine cabinet behind it. To the left behind the green tinted glass divider wall and door is the head and shower area, with a seperate shower mixer, drop down seat and a wet locker with hanging storage and space available for cockpit cushions, fenders, etc. Galley: Frigoboat refrigeration 37 gallon refrigeration space Double SS sink Clear galley/saloon divider Eno 2 burner stove w/oven and pot clamps H/C pressure water 10.6 gallon hot water heater 2 10 lb. propane bottles Head: Corian countertops Stainless steel sink H/C pressure water Jabsco manual head Y-valve for overboard discharge Electric shower sump Shower stall w/seat & separating door H/C shower mixer in shower stall
