Hull & Deck

Fiberglass hull with foam cored topsides and solid fiberglass bottom finished with Flag Blue Awlgrip with white boot top and "sheer strake". Her bottom is painted with oxide red anti fouling in a hard epoxy finished and has been kept well sanded and fair. The topsides were Awlgripped in '02, the yacht was not in service in '06 and was stored inside.
Partially cored fiberglass decks with two tone non-skid, moon dust on white. In 2005 all hardware windows etc were removed from the house and decks and the entire deck and superstructure were re Awlgripped and all hardware and windows rebedded.

Features

Purchased by the third and current owner in 1988, CARIBOU has received the best of care. Stored inside each winter since, the owner frequently undertakes substantial re-fit projects which started in '92 as follows:'92 added cleats and hawses to stern area; '94 added the genset, '95 New headliner, new cap rails and hand rails, new shafts, bottom stripped and barrier coated; '96 added the swim platform; '97 all new switch panels and primary wiring, all new wiring for electronics, added inverters; '98 all new windows, ports and hatches; '02 refinished the interior, all new Formica on flat panel surfaces and refinished all woodwork, Awlgripped the hull flag blue; '05/06 all windows, hatches, hardware removed and entire deck and superstructure Awlgripped with all equipment then re-bedded. Numerous other selected piece of equipment replacements e.g. electronics, pumps, hoses etc. (not in service in 2006)
(There is an original 16,000 btu reverse cycle a/c unit plumbed and ducted. The owner has only used it on the heat cycle and it has not been commissioned this year) This level of caring maintainence results in a vessel that belies her age. She is a delight to show!

Accommodations

Accommodations for up to 6 in a single stateroom layout. Herreshoff style finish with varnished mahogany trim. The sole is carpeted throughout (recently replaced). Abundant light and natural ventilation via 8 opening ports, 4 hatches and the full windows with sliders in the salon, all opening ports/windows/hatches have screens. A nice detail built into the boat is the windscoop under the visor which allows air and directs it across the windshield when the boat needs to be otherwise secured. Ample artificial light with reading lamps at all berths and settees and numerous overhead dome style lamps. Headroom is in excess of 6'-3" in the salon and galley area and 6'-5" fwd. Starting forward is the Stateroom with over 7' long V-berth with generous width and filler. Below the berth are 4 large deep drawers for storage while aft and to port is a hanging locker, locker with shelves and a dressing seat with bin storage under. Outboard and above there are storage shelves and there is access to the anchor locker at the fwd bulkhead.
Continuing aft is the fore and aft passage off of which to port are additional lockers (1 hanging locker and 1 with shelves) while to starboard is the enclosed Head featuring a Vacuflush W.C. generous fore and aft running vanity with excellent storage in 2 drawers, 2 under counter lockers and in lockers with sliding faces outboard of the vanity, Corian counter tops and polished stainless steel sink.
At the aft end of the fore and aft passage is the galley to port (see galley) and Dinette to starboard. The dinette is 46" in width and easily seats two on each fore and aft facing bench seat. The dinette makes down to a double berth over 6'-5" in length. Voluminous bin type storage below the dinette benches with additional storage outboard on a shelf and in a drawer under the raised platform for the dinette.
Up three steps to the bright and airy Salon. To starboard is the helm with the lower helm electronics, electrical distribution panels, and other vessel controls. The bridge deck is open and uncluttered and there is a swivel platform ready to mount a radar display, computer navigation system of other. Aft of the helm there is room for free standing chairs. To port is an area for chart navigation and storage aft of which is a double width convertible sofa. Aft of the sofa is a bureau with drawers. The aft door is double width. Outboard and under the decks there is additional storage while virtually all of the salon sole can be removed to access mechanicals.
The cockpit is 9' X 12' (plenty of room for deck chairs and tables) & the teak step down from the salon lifts to access storage. Storage for lines and fenders on varnished teak shelves outboard under the side decks. Wide side decks with convenient handholds lead to the foredeck.
The Flying Bridge is accessed via a stainless and teak ladder from the cockpit. The flybridge features a helm seat on c/l with fore and aft running bench seats P&S with storage under. Further storage under the helm deck.
Throughout the interior and exterior the yacht is visually pleasing, well thought out and ergonomically correct.
