Interior Accommodations One of the primary reasons the Hylas 54 has enjoyed such popularity over the past 10 years is the luxurious 3 stateroom accommodations and magnificent varnished teak woodwork. With her long waterline and generous beam carried well aft, there are no compromises made to any of the sleeping, living, galley and navigation areas.
When building a new Hylas there are hundreds of choices and therefore differences are sometimes significant. There is one hull mold and two deck molds, (standard deck and raised salon). The owners of Sirius wanted to maximize the light and ventilation and tankage for long passages, therefore chose the raised salon deck. A few examples of the custom additions were: adding a second upper refrigeration box; redesigning the entry steps, making them wider and deeper with reduced angle; raising the salon sole a little above the customary designed height, improving visibility for shorter sailors; adding extra dish storage and drain locker outboard of the larger custom sink; and adding a dedicated wine locker.
Sirius's owners made good choices for each sleeping cabin to maximize storage and provide maximum comfort for couples or singles. The forward guest cabin has a large V berth with filler that converts it to a double. The second guest cabin has a wide lower berth with vanity and comfortable upper berth. The aft cabin features a centerline queen berth with two single and one double hanging locker plus numerous drawers and small lockers. Both the aft master and the forward guest heads have separate stall showers.

Closing Remarks Sirius is a Raised Salon 54 Hylas designed, built and equipped for serious blue water adventure. It is often said that the difference is in the details. Sirius is one of the best examples of what can be accomplished when an experienced sailing couple works closely with an established semi-custom quality builder using a proven design to make the right choices and improvements.
Anyone who is familiar with German Frers knows he only designs for a select few builders that, in addition to Hylas, include Hallberg Rassy and Nautor Swan. If you love to sail and desire luxurious accommodations, Sirius is a listing to put on the short list. In addition to great design and superior construction, Sirius is equipped to go anywhere in the world and is offered at very competitive price, well below comparable quality European competitors, and one half of current replacement.
