Accommodations The Hunter 38 has a oversized athwart aft cabin and large vee-berth forward. Both cabins have the optional inner spring matresses. The single head is to port of the companionway and the galley to starboard. The large salon has a convertible table (with removable leaf) and a comfortable settee. The nav station and electrical station is comfortable and easy to use. The opening hatches have Ocean Air sliding shade/screens.
The entire cabin is cooled/heated with dual MarineAire a/c systems. One for the salon/forward cabin and one specificlly for the aft cabin.
The entertainment system is an upgraded BOSE stereo/CD with extra optional cockpit speakers.
Galley The galley has real Corian counter tops and a double stainless steel sink. The Norcold refrigerator is front opening so that there is no need clear the counter to retrieve items. There is a 2-burner LPG Force 10 gimballed stove with oven and an installed microwave. The boat comes with complete galley ware and service for 8.
Electrical System In a specifically designed space under the dinette seat, there is a top-of -the-line Fischer Panda Mini-4 diesel generator (with about 270 hours) which powers the a/c and battery charger while away from the shore power. The Xantrex charger also acts as an inverter. There are two 50' 30amp shore power cords as well.
Engine /Mechanical Equipment The engine is a reliable Yanmar diesel which was upgraded to the 40 hp option. There is access for service from all four sides with the main access under the companionway steps. A Sea Fire automatic fire supression system protects against an engine fire. The prop was also upgraded to the 3-blade style.
Electronics and Navigational Equipment "Second Chance" has a full Raymarine electronics package including Raymarine 435i chartplotter/GPS, ST-6000 autopilot, ST-60 wind indicator, ST-60 depth, and ST-60 speed all mounted in an extended Navpod at the helm. As for communication, there is a Icom VHF at the nav station with a remote RAM mic at the helm.
Sails and Rigging The rig is the standard B&R mast made by Selden with a in-mast furling mainsail. The head sail is a 105% furling jib on the Furlex furler. All lines run aft to the cockpit sheetstoppers. The halyard winches are Lewmar 40's and the jib sheet winches are Lewmar 44's. The mainsheet traveler is mounted over the cockpit on the trademark Hunter cockpit arch.
Deck Equipment The ground tackle consists of a Delta primary on chain//rope rode and a secondary Bruce on chain/rope rode managed by a Simpson-Lawrence electric windlass. The cockpit has blue Sunbrella bimini and full cockpit cushions. There is a walk thru transom with hot/cold deck shower and swim ladder. The helm is the optional Lewmar folding leather wheel.
