OVERVIEW
The Mark Ellis designed Nonsuch 30 was a breakthrough design in the late 1970's, combining classic catboat lines with modern seakindly performance and quality construction. With their enduring value, the Nonsuch designs have stood the test of time and are particularly appreciated by their owners for their renowned ease of handling when sailing shorthanded; as well as for their comfortable accommodations below deck and luxuriously expansive cockpit space. With her striking dark green hull and beautifully varnished interior joinery, anam cara is a splendid example of this famous design. Her owners have maintained her diligently; including prudent annual maintenance to her engine, sail and other systems; so she?s in very good condition and is well equipped.
A Nonsuch 30 like anam cara would normally be expected to sell in the "low $40's." However, like many older (and younger!) boats, she has less than perfect decks -i.e.; some moisture related delamination.
While tempted to effect these repairs prior to sale, the owners have decided to offer anam cara at the drastically reduced price of $29,000 to encourage a quick sale; and to allow the new owner to address any repair questions according to her or his own standards and priorities. (A marine surveyor has inspected the deck and hull; the written report is available upon request.) This offering represents an unusual opportunity for a sailor with a limited budget to own a sound, turnkey yacht of finer quality and appointments than could otherwise be purchased in this price range.
