The Bermuda 40 a Bill Tripp design, is a beautiful specimen of sailing elegance and quality, directly responsible for the rise of the Hinckley name and setting the bar for modern fiberglass yacht construction. "Amy K" is a well found custom yawl that had spent 13 years in indoor storage before her current owner found her and began upgrading her equipment and inventory. A complete bottom strip and re-barrier coat, newly gel coated topsides, and many recent years in fresh water help set "Amy K" apart from the rest!
Deck & Hull
Solid hand laid fiberglass, reinforced with additional laminates in all stress areas. Bottom peeled and barrier coated, and white gel coated topsides done in 2000. Deck is solid fiberglass and bolted in to a 6" hull flange to form a permanent hull/deck joint. External lead keel is fastened with stainless steel bolts and the all bronze centerboard is operated by a worm gear with override in case of accidental grounding. Custom worm gear and lubrication system was added, as well as new chrome dorade vents.
Cockpit
Deep self bailing cockpit molded integrally with deck, large seats with locking watertight lockers under an aft propane lazarette which contains 2 aluminum 20# propane cylinders. Edson pedestal steering with leather covered 28" aluminum destroyer wheel, shift and throttle control, and teak helmsman foot stand.
