Additional BRIEF HISTORY OF THE VESSEL Fairwinds was originally a Gulfstar 50 MK II. The previous owners of the yacht that originally chartered in the Grenadines converted her from a sloop to a two-masted yawl. A further five feet was added to accommodate more stern locker space and aft fuel locker at the stern. The previous owners operated her successfully from Grenada for over eight years. She was damaged in Hurricane Ivan, and was holed in the keel, and the mast was broken. She was purchased shortly after, and worked extensively to repair storm damage, professionals undertaking the fibreglass work. The engine was taken from the yacht and completely overhauled. The mast was removed, sleeved and re-stepped. The hull was repainted with Awlgrip. The yacht was completely rewired and new pumps and systems installed. Refrigeration remains to be either replaced or repaired. The internal floor sole needs in future to be replaced, however it is still sound . With a very large spacious accommodation and deck space, she is the ideal classic charter yacht. She was built in 1977 when construction on these first yachts in production was very strong and sound.
