Introduction The Grand Banks Eastbay 47 is a C. Raymond Hunt & Associates design that has helped define the modern down east cruiser. Her graceful sheer and moderate bow flare are reminiscent of Maine built lobster boats while her deep dead rise hull with computer designed lifting strakes are at the forefront of modern underbody design. Power comes from twin Cummins Qsm11's which provide smooth, reliable power, and she is the only 47 built with that power plant option. Water Music was constructed as the Grand Banks dealer demonstration vessel and being the flagship of the line was built with utmost care. The interior accommodations are well thought out and provide a bright and airy ambiance. The large barrel back chairs were reupholstered in ultra leather to match the settee to port and give a feeling of continuity to the interior. Water Music has many well appointed custom touches that exemplify the good taste of her only owners. Her galley is large enough to impress the finest gourmet chef and its location below the wind screen allows the chef to be included in conversations in the main salon. The Eastbay 47 Flybridge is considered by some to be the ultimate down east cruiser. She is modern, fast, dry and finished as only a Grand Banks could be. Water Music is located on Spa Creek in the heart of Annapolis and can be seen anytime.
Cockpit When you step out of the dinghy onto the teak swim platform and pass through the transom door, you can't help but realize you have stepped aboard a masterpiece of engineering. Three large lazarette hatches can be found underfoot. The port and starboard hatches are large and deep and provide ample storage for fenders and gear. The central hatch provides more storage as well as access to the main fuel tank. Tank fittings and access are of top quality and it is clear that serviceability of systems was forefront in the builder's mind. The cockpit is large enough for entertaining guests or for lounging in the sun on the hook. A custom Palm Beach bimini extends aft from the fly bridge brow and provides excellent shade and rain protection. A wet bar is located under the curved fly bridge stairs, with a storage locker underneath; the white Corian counter top is rugged and easy to clean. The propane locker is located to starboard of the companionway entrance and it houses two large aluminum tanks which will provide enough cooking fuel for an entire season of cruising.
Accommodations Entrance to the Main Salon is gained either through the large glass paneled slider in the cockpit, or the double gasketed sea door at the lower steering station. There is a large ultra leather L-shaped settee to port that converts to a comfortable double bed. A moveable hi-lo table is perfect for dining or cocktails. Custom barrel-back chairs are to starboard and a flat screen TV folds down from the headliner on an electric ram between them. A coordinated Stidd helm chair overlooks the engine controls to starboard while a bench seat and a large chart table is found to port. Working forward through the custom Herreshoff style companionway, one finds to port a well designed Guest Head Compartment with a large separate shower stall to port. White Corian countertops and a sealed electric Vacu-flush head are a few of the luxury details found here. The Guest Stateroom, roomy and fitted with twin beds, is found to starboard. This stateroom includes a cedar-lined hanging locker and other storage space. The Master Stateroom features a centerline queen bed which easily lifts, with the aid of gas filled cylinders, to provide extra storage. Rheostatically controlled reading lights, a flat screen TV, a cedar lined hanging locker, and hand crafted honey teak faced drawers, lockers and shelves complete the owners quarters. The ensuite Master Head Compartment is located to starboard and has a vacu-flush head, a separate shower and corian counter tops. A teak trimmed, sleekly curved acrylic shower door exemplifies the type of craftsmanship and attention to detail found throughout the vessel.Multi zone MarineAir rev cycle AC/heat

Hand selected granite counter tops and deep double sinks make meal preparation easy and fun. The galley's location under the windshield does not prevent the chef from participating in activities in the main salon yet is removed enough for private entertaining.

Electronics and Navigational Equipment Navigation systems aboard this vessel are top notch and fully integrated with the ship's systems. Full color displays with radar overlays and dual frequency echo sounding make piloting safe and efficient. Thruster and trim tab controls are found at both stations as is full engine instrumentation. A Centroid Computank display gives real time tank data for fuel, water, and holding tanks.

Engine /Mechanical Equipment Engine room access is gained through a set of hydraulic lifting stairs that are integrated into the cockpit sole and companionway steps. With a touch of a button, the companionway steps start to ascend and reveal the entrance to the machinery space. Stairs with teak treads lead into the well lit and well ventilated engine room. Aluminum diamond plate floor panels between the main Cummins engines provide excellent traction and cover the bilge sump. Fluid checks of the main engines and marine gears are simplified by the smart placement of dip stick tubes which are easily accessed from the engine alleyway. Sea water intake sea cocks for the main engines are well placed and the sea strainers are easily accessed making pre-start engine checks a breeze. A reverse oil change system is plumbed into the main engines and gen-set which allows for precise top-ups and tidy changes. Another feature of note is the fresh water wash down in the engine room. Combustion air is drawn through specially designed air ducts integrated into the hull. The air ducts remove spray and water vapor while providing an ample supply of clean, dry combustion air. The 13.5 kilowatt Onan Q-ED gen-set located immediately to port as you descend the stairs and is large enough to provide the vessel with enough electrical power to run all of the onboard systems such as the reverse cycle multi-zone air conditioning while on the hook. A sound shield and a gas water separator combined with an extremely well insulated engine room keep the decibels to a minimum. Controls for the generator start-up are located on the unit as well as at the main steering station. Engine room access may also be gained through a gasketed and insulated hatch in the sole of the main salon. The 6 cylinder turbocharged and after-cooled Cummins QSM11-670 HO displaces 10.8 liters and produces 661 bhp @2300 rpm. Maximum torque is generated around 1625 rpm and the boat cruises efficiently at this speed. Glendinning throttle synchronizers make synchronizing engine cruising speeds easy and allow 1 rpm throttle changes to be made with the touch of a button. Another feature worth noting is the low idle or trolling setting which allows for precise maneuvering in tight quarters. Back up throttle controls are located at the lower helm and provide a level of security and redundancy that is typical aboard a Grand Banks.

Fly Bridge The large L-shaped settee on the flybridge wraps nicely around the combings. A varnished teak cockpit table is handily located, as is the Magma propane grill. Twin Stidd seats assure comfort and security in a seaway. Matching upholstered benches furnish seating for guests, and the bimini provides excellent shade while under way. A full set of canvas covers protect the furniture and helm station when not in use.
