Vessel Walkthrough The "Star of America" is inspected and certified by the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Inspection Office, New York, NY as a small passenger vessel under Title 46, Code of Federal Regulations Parts 175 thru 185 inclusive (under 100 gross (regulatory) tons). It was issued a Certificate of Inspection (COI) for quinquennium period from 13 June 2001 through 13 June 2006.
It can carry a maximum of 149 passengers; with (1) master and (3) deckhands and (12) other persons in addition to the crew for a total of 165 persons.
Pilothouse On each side are built in side cabinets with HAC vents and aft to starboard is a wet bar area with brass trim and custom chairs. (2) molded in sinks are provided in the countertop. Pool icemaker, drawers and lockers under, dishwasher, trash compactor, Jenn-Air microwave oven. Thermador electric stove with oven, Modern Maid standup refrigerator with freezer with built-in ice and water dispensers.
To port, is similar seating, grand piano and ornate circular stairs up to the flybridge and down to the main deck.
On centerline, is a passageway leading aft with storerooms on each side. Aft is the lounge area with enclosed waterclosets on each side with tubs/showers, marine toilets and sinks. Leather seating is provided on centerline, carpeted deck and ambiance supported by lush interior decor and openness for entertainment or business functions. A fixed fireplace with brass facade is found to starboard and large 57 inch and 43 inch JBL projector screen and entertainment system to port compliment the arrangements. The entertainment equipment consists of Panasonic VHS player, teak audio/video surround received, Optimus 5 CD changer and Yamaha amplifier. By the center seating are ICOM VHF and HF transreceivers and sliding doors aft to the enclosed after deck.
Remarks "Star of America" is an aluminum hulled motor yacht of all welded construction. It was originally designed and built as a corporate yacht and converted in 1998 to an elegant dinner cruise vessel and special function boat. Many foreign dignitaries and wealthy customers have been chartering and she brings in 2 to 3 charters per week. Helicopter pad design is available and could be installed.
Flybridge The flybridge and sun deck are open with full operator's controls forward, plastic wind visor, 15 inch Carlisle-Finch searchlight, recessed and covered instruments and electronic equipment. Fixed seating is provided along with a large communications dome aft and inflatable Metzeler boat, powered by a single 50hp Johnson outboard.
Deck Equipment On the main deck (forward) is a void with Aqua Air HAC unit and followed by the food preparation area or galley.
Upper deck: The forward portion of the upper deck is open with boxed in bulwarks and (4) course railing, closed chocks and deck mounted cleats. On centerline is a stainless steel anchor fairlead with roller and anchor, Muir Thos windlass with capstan head, deck locker and non skik decking.
Deck: The upper deck is large, open and bright with elegant furnishings. Fixed tempered safety glass window panels provide light and virtually unobstructed vista.
Engine /Mechanical Equipment The vessel is equipped with (2) generator sets (65kW each) located aft and above the engine compartment. Caterpillar four cylinder diesel engines service as prime movers, jet drives which pivot for steering.
Electronics and Navigational Equipment Furuno radar, Raytheon Rasterscan radar, Gyro compass and repeater, Wagner remote rudder angle indicator, Robertson autopilot, Robertson remote steering, Wesmar PowerScan sonar, Raytheon Loudhailer, ICOM VHF, (2) standard Horizon digital depth sounders with alarms, Mark II Loran-C receiver, Furuno GPS, JRC Doppler log, (2) Link digital depth sounders, HP Office Jet printer, ATT cellular phone.
Electrical System Morse type engine control levers, triple tachometers, engine water temperature, engine oil pressure and drive oil pressure gauges and amp meters. (2) hinged access panels are provided on the console with 12 and 24 volt VCD and 120 and 208 VAC electric panels. To starboard, are start/stop switch and heat and air conditioning (HAC) panel, Kobelt steering lever, (2) jet thrust indicators and countertop. (2) hinged access panels are installed under the console and a curtain separates the pilothouse from the salon area.
To port, are start/stop switches, (3) emergency stop switches, automatic whistle control panel, Carlisle-Finch remote operated spotlight panel, countertop, navigation light and bilge high water indicator panel and Hart "Tanktender" panel. (2) hinged panels are installed onto a void, (2) chairs and bench seat aft with storage under.
Galley The food preparation area is fully equipped with stainless steel sheathing, fixtures and commercial grade equipment. A vertical escape ladder leads up to the upper deck with inside opening apparatus and swinging doors aft to the dining and dancing area.
To starboard is a full wet bar and to port, an enclosed watercloset followed by circular stairs up to the upper deck and semicircular serving area. A utility room is provided with electric hot water heater and Nutone vacuum system.
