Vessel Overview

Simply stated, from the very beginning of her design concept, SHAMAN has always been a decade ahead of her time.  In 1997, the low profile pilothouse with adjoining upper dining area and lower salon entertaining area, was a cutting edge ergonomic concept that since, has become a mainstay of evolved yacht design.  The pre-preg carbon composite technology of SHAMAN's hull and deck construction is still state of the art 10 years later.  The concept of building the 88' hull and deck with the best composite builder in Europe, then shipping the Yacht to Derecktor Shipyard in New York for finishing, was revolutionary in itself, and brought the best technicians to each aspect of the project. Her exterior profile is pleasing to the eye and provides separate, comfortable and protected cockpits for entertaining amidships and steering/sailhandling aft.  She has an extremely efficient deck layout for simple handling of her powerful sailplan and the exterior requires minimal maintenance. Only now are yacht designers catching up to the idea of SHAMAN's hydraulically retractable, ballasted bulb keel, which allows access to all ports of call while providing a tremendously powerful righting moment.  The power in the ballasted, vertically raised and lowered drop keel is further enhanced by 7,500 pounds of fresh water ballast, movable to the windward side automatically by electric pump.

Down below, one is transported from the high-tech, performance thoroughbred on deck into the comfortable old world ambience of the Andrew Winch designed interior.  All interior woodwork is of raised and fielded varnished cherry panels, built on honeycomb cored panels to keep the Yacht light and fast through the water and fully elegant in décor down below.  With her five separate staterooms, raised pilothouse dining area and office/navigation station, panoramic visibility and open arrangement with the salon and galley, SHAMAN is simply a great place to live on the water, in port or far at sea.

Although she is exceptionally light and fast, regularly posting speeds above 20 knots, the substance of SHAMAN has been well-tested.  She has cruised deep into the Southern Ocean, to South Georgia Island and north above the Arctic Circle to Spitzbergen and beyond.  The yacht has had the best of care and is ready once again, to cruise all oceans in comfort, style and with a great turn of speed.

The owner's cabin is located aft with a centerline double berth that converts to a comfortable seaberth. The en suite head/shower compartment is on the port side and includes a full shower and Jacuzzi tub. Forward of the owner's suite are twin guest cabins with large single berths and  Pullman style upper berths which, when recessed, blend with the raised panel finish of the interior joinery.
