This berthing facility is up-scale and was used to house construction workers employed by the US Army Corp of Engineers while doing riverbank matting work on the Mississippi River. It was re-built in 2006 by Murphy Oil Company to house their workers after Katrina. The berthing facility is composed of 2-230’X 40’ barges and usually operates “end to end”. Total capacity is 350 persons.
One barge is composed of berthing spaces only and contains 4 units of 9 rooms with 3 beds/room for a total of 108 on the main deck and 4 units of 9 rooms with 4 beds/room for a total of 144 on the second deck. Total capacity of this barge is 252.
The second barge is composed of 32 rooms with 3 beds/room for a total of 96 on the second deck. This barge also contains 6 lounges, 2 dining facilities, full service galleys, a gym and laundry facilities on the main deck.
The barges have always operated on the River and are not ABS rated but are believed capable of being towed in open waters. It would be feasible to move the structures to ABS rated barges if required.
The barge units may be sold separately if required and both could be leased for a minimum of one year for $180,000 plus some additional expenses.
