Accommodations The interior of Fortuna reflects simplicity and good taste. It allows new owners to add their own touches without the need for refurbishment or construction. It is a perfect interior for live-aboard or long term cruising as well as passage-making.
Forward Cabin White painted cabin with horizontal staving on bunk sides and attractive rope trim in corners. V berth with insert. Lockers and shelves. Large hatch overhead. Rattan covered hatches to forward anchor locker.
Forward head. Located to starboard is a spacious head with basin, lockers, Wilcox-Crittenden "Skipper" head, and space to shower. Facing the head compartment is a hanging locker and shelves.
Main Salon. A distinctive feature of the main salon is the solid fuel stove/heater securely mounted aft of the port settee. Competing with the stove as the showpiece of the cabin is the magnificent fir wood companionway ladder. There is a central table with Aladdin brass ships lamp above. Substantial bookshelves and lockers line the hull sides above each settee.
Captain's Cabin. To port and aft of the stove and settee is a single berth captain's cabin with navigation table. This cozy cabin can be used for storage in the event of a couple using the main cabin down aft. Beneath the recessed chart table is the engine and there is top and side access from the captain's cabin.
Galley. The galley is to starboard and features a Force 10 propane stove, top loading icebox (easily convertible to refrigeration), and sink area. There is plenty of storage space in the galley both above and below counter height. Access to the batteries is below the sink and just forward of the engine. There is also starboard engine access from the galley passage. The galley is safe in a seaway as it is impossible to be thrown across the boat.
Aft Cabin A large berth stretches beam to beam across the cabin. Drawers, attractive rattan covered hanging locker and a seat complete the cabin. There is a large hatch overhead. The hydraulic steering gear and autopilot mechanism are easy to get to under the forward end of the berth.

Built as a one-off, custom, center cockpit, cruising boat, Fortuna is a vessel to satisfy a traditionalist with her looks and a modernist with her layout and systems. She is a William Garden, full keel design, which will take the most adventurous cruiser to the ends of the earth and back in safety and comfort. She was built in Seattle and launched in 1998. Fortuna's hull construction is solid fiberglass by hand lay up using epoxy resins and tri-axial glass. The hull is over 1 inch thick below the waterline. The deck construction consists of two layers of 3/8 marine ply epoxy coated and laminated together, overlaid with ¼ inch of glass mat and woven roving. All bulkheads and interior structures are fully bonded to the hull. The owner has reported that in heavy sea conditions there has never been any sign of bulkhead movement or stress cracking.
As with many custom boats, this one has a lot of interesting, personal touches which reflect the personality of the builders as well as features that will be important to blue water cruisers.
