The Cruisers 4450 Express MY attempts to combine the interior of an aft-cabin motor yacht with the open deck layout of an express cruiser-an "evolutionary step" in aft-cabin design according to Cruisers' execs. An innovative yacht with a distinctive profile, the 4450 is likely to appeal to entry-level buyers looking for condo-style accomodations below and seating for a small crowd outside. The three-stateroom interior of the 4450 is a departure from most aft cabin floorplans in that the salon, galley and dinette are all on the same level (although the dinette is slightly elevated to provide headroom for the small stateroom below). The forward cabin, with a walk-in closet(!), is nearly as large as the owner's stateroom. Note that the aft head has a whirlpool tub with a set of French doors. Outside, the express-style cockpit and helm layout-high above the water level-is a radical departure from the two-level flybridge/aft deck configuration seen in traditional motor yachts. Twin 420-hp Cat diesels will cruise the Cruisers 4450 Aft Cabin at around 19 knots and reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 23-24 knots.
