Accommodations PILGRIM offers a unique layout for a 40 Downeast yacht. Owner's quarters are forward with a Vee shaped berth and appropriate stowage. Next aft to port is a side cabin which would comfortably accommodate a second couple.
Opposite to starboard is the head compartment with separate shower. Up two steps is the main saloon / pilothouse / galley space. To starboard is the helm station, adjacent to the wing door. Navionics and engine panels are attractively flush mounted.
To port is the L shaped galley with Force 10 LPG stove, icebox with 12V refrigeration and white porcelain sink. A convertible dinette, with varnished teak table which accommodates four, is next aft on the port side. On the starboard side are two comfortable armchairs with room between for a folding coffee table. (When pressed with additional guests, this space can accommodate a pipe berth, supplied.)
The afterdeck features full length bench seats and a strip mahogony deck. Lazarettes easily hold the usual complement of fenders, docklines, inflatable tender and 4 HP outboard.
Fit and finish is in traditional Downeast style with white panels and varnished mahogony trim. Joinerwork is to typically high Covey Island standards. Headroom is generous, natural light and ventilation is excellent.
Remarks PILGRIM followed on the heels of Covey Island's popular Spencer Lincoln designed 38 footer, with two feet added to allow space for the second cabin.
Covey Island's wood/epoxy construction technique has resulted in a low maintenance, exceptionally strong hull structure which is quiet underway. Interior fit and finish conveys the impression that one is aboard a classic wooden lobsteryacht, rather than a technologically advanced wood/epoxy cruiser.
Her present owner has freshened PILGRIM with new interior and cockpit cushions, utilizing Tempurpedic foam on the berth cushions. Custom window blinds were installed. The mahogony after-deck was redone. Additional reading lamps were installed.
With double wing doors, walk-around decks and open access to the cockpit, line handling and docking is simple. PILGRIM would make an ideal couple's cruiser for adventures such as the Great Loop. Occasional guests might find enough comfort to overstay their welcome.
PILGRIM is for sale only because her owner has postponed his final transition from sail to power and has not found time to utilize PILGRIM to her potential.
