George Greenough is a living legend and unique icon in the surf world best known for his innovative surf photography, surfboard design, and ingeniously conceived and constructed devices including everything from wind generators to hand made air mattresses and blue water fishing boats. When George becomes fascinated with an idea or object, he goes about re-inventing it in a way marked by his unusual signature. This 28 x 10 Custom George Greenough design was built in 1992. Distinguishing features of the boat include stable fast planning hull, 2002 diesel engine package, comfortable cabin, and big working deck. The boat has been thoughtfully equipped and well maintained. If you are looking to setup six-pak charter, commercial dive fishery, or just to have the best hard-core sport boat around, your boat, fully equipped, has arrived and is ready for sea trial! Accommodations: Overnight accommodations are provided for three people in two. Interior layout includes V-berth, port galley area, starboard helm station, and port aft convertible single berth/bench seat. V-berth features include under-berth storage, access to wiring, fabric covered cushions, fabric covered headliner, storage cubby, and hanging storage net. Other interior features include fabric covered aft cushion, under-aft berth storage, access to electrical panel, seven windows (side windows are sliders), 12-volt lighting, and lockable companionway door. Galley Equipment: Galley equipment includes built in two-burner stove. Electronic and Navigational Gear: Helm is equipped with key-start ignition, sport steering wheel, dual forward/reverse throttle, various gauges, and dash/overhead mounted electronics. Electronic and navigational gear includes Furuno GP 1600 GPS/chart plotter, Furuno 1622 16-mile radar with closed array, Uniden Solara VHF marine radio, ACR EPIRB, Ritchie compass, Furuno CS 6000 fathometer, stereo, speakers, and local charts. Electrical: Two deep-cycle batteries power this 12-volt electrical system. Other electrical features include breakers, fuse circuits, accessory panel, marine grade tinned wiring, masthead light, and running lights (USCG approved). Water system includes an automatic bilge pump. Hull & Deck Gear: The hull is made of fiberglass with a foam core, and the decks are fiberglass with non-skid surfacing. The hull design is deep Vee. Deck layout includes deck at bow, narrow walkaround decks, raised engine compartment in cockpit, and aft deck. Other deck features include step-through transom, washdown system (both hot and cold water), raised gunwales, aluminum radar mast, aluminum grab rails, teak grab rails, and two deck cleats. Anchor gear includes 22-lb. Bruce anchor, 30’ of 3/8” chain, 300’ of 5/8” nylon rode, stainless steel bow roller and protective plate, commercial anchor spool, Reisling hydraulic windlass, large stainless steel anchor platform, and two spare anchors. Safety gear includes four life jackets, fire extinguisher, flare kit, ring-type buoy, horn, docking line, and fenders. Fishing and sports gear includes large fishhold and fishing davit. Equipment & Engine Details: Engine Details: The power package includes a 2002 diesel 315 HP Cummins B-series inboard with 2,657 hours. The boat cruises at 22 knots and reaches a maximum speed of 26 knots. Other engine features include two fiberglass saddle diesel fuel tanks with total 240-gallon capacity, three-blade bronze prop and ZF 80 transmission. Remarks: FAT CHOY is a great work boat with potential for a variety of sport or commercial applications. It’s nice to have both stability and speed when you are heading to a destination far across the Channel.
