The PowerBoat Guide had this to say:

A popular boat with a 9-year production run, the Chaparral Signature 29 (called the Signature 28 in 1991-92) stood apart from most other family cruisers during the 1990s for her quality construction and good all-around performance. The 29 was considered a gracefully designed boat when she was introduced, and a generous 9' 9" beam results in a very spacious interior. The layout is different from most mid-cabin designs: a V-berth area is forward, followed by an aft-facing wraparound dinette that that spans the full width of the interior. A high/low table converts the dinette into a double berth, while the aft cabin is seperated from the main salon with a privacy door rather than just a curtain. The cockpit is arranged in two sections: a three-person bench seat stows away in the transom, and a large U-shaped settee is forward, opposite the helm. As many as six people can be seated comfortably in the cockpit, and visibility from the helm is excellent. A bow pulpit, radar arch, and cockpit wet bar were all standard.
