The Catalina 30 is the longest continous production boat in the world, from 1975 to 2006, with over 6,500 hulls produced. It was inducted into the Sailboat Hall of Fame in 2001 and was the foundation of the Catalina line. An extremely popular cruiser/club racer, it is an excellent sailer and has a very roomy interior. If you are looking for a reliable, easy to sail and comfortable daysailer, club racer, weekender or vacation condo the Catalina 30 is a good choice.
Accommodations
Starting in the bow, there is a storage locker in the forward part of the cabin. Fiddled shelves extend down both sides of the berth and storage below the berth. An accordian door provides privacy while a pair of reading lights and a large overhead hatch provides ventilation and light.
Outside this cabin on the starboard side is a spacious four drawer dresser and hanging locker. There is a fiddled shelf above and a storage cabinet with a sliding door behind the shelf.
Across from the dresser unit on port is the head. A bi-fold door provides privacy for this compartment and an overhead hatch for ventilation. There is a stainess steel sink with mixer, Wilcox head, shelf storage with plexiglass doors behind the head and a bronze ship's porthole mirror.
Stepping back into the saloon there is a foldup table on the port bulkhead and an L-shaped dinette. Below the settee is storage as well as behind it, with two fiddled shelves behind and above it. The straight starboard settee duplicates the storage and shelving found to port.
Aft of the L-shaped settee on port is the U-shaped galley. There is a double stainless steel sink, a two burner gimballed alcohol stove and oven and a generous sized ice box. Counter space is generous and there is a Catalina signature hinged door to the trash bin in the lazarette.
Across to port is the nav area. Thre is adequate space to lay out a chartbook, a fiddled shelf above it and carved double doored storage below it. The electrical panel is located above the table for easy access. Behind that, there is a generously sized double berth, with fiddled shelving storage along the hull and even more storage below it.
