Vessel Overview SONNY is a medium displacement, performance cruising yacht custom designed by Dieter Empacher for a very experienced yachtsman, and built to the highest standards by the Brooklin Boatyard in Maine. SONNY's low sheerline and sweeping teak decks create a truly breathtaking profile. Her 8' wing keel, carbon spar and powerful sailplan serve up exilerating performance potential and her hydraulic in boom furling, hydraulically controlled furling headsails, winches and bow thruster make handling in all situations a simple matter. Her layout provides for three staterooms, plus a separate captain's cabin, gracious salon, gourmet galley and all amenities.
Accommodations Below decks, SONNY's custom joiner work is reminiscent of the classic Herreshoff style, with soft white painted panels accented by bright varnished American cherry trim. Cabin soles are bright varnished teak and holly and the salon seating is upholstered in diamond-quilt deep blue leather to compliment the style and elegance of the salon. Stainless opening ports are abundant in the salon, galley and aft stateroom and ventilation is plentiful everywhere consequential to a good number of opening hatches.
Broker Comments SONNY is a yacht of the highest quality in every respect, which has been maintained to perfection. In 2008, a new mast and boom, plus all running and standing rigging was replaced. In 2007, SONNY had her topsides Awlgripped at the Brooklin Boatyard. July 2005, she underwent a refit at Brooklin Boatyard that repainted and revarnished all interior surfaces including the cabin sole, replaced the primary hydraulic winches with more powerful ones, replaced every battery aboard with updated AGM batteries, sanded the teak decks and accomplished a myriad of maintenance items. SONNY is located in Newport, RI, fully commissioned and ready to cruise all oceans.
