Remarks A few years before some of the bigger builders recognized the trend sophisticated sailors looking for a quality, elegant, daysailor looked to Brooklin Boat Yard and designer Joel White to produce what they were after. The result was the "Center Harbor" series of which KELLS was one of the first. Beautifully designed and built she is literally a head turner. The listing broker has had the opportunity to sail her and speak to her superb handling qualities and condition. The listing broker has personally sailed KELLS. She is a remarkabley easily sailed and forgiving vessel in addition to being fast and as handsome as they come. She has been maintained to the highest standards by her onwer and has always been stored at her builders yard.
Accomodation KELLS was envisioned by highly regarded designer and builder Joel White who did her preliminary drawings and sail plan. Robert Stephens, the yard's current in house naval architect, then took over and made minor modifications to suit the owner, primarily giving the boat slightly longer overhangs than some of her smaller sisters. The owners intent was to have a beautiful, fast, daysailor, capable of handling a large party but able to be singlehanded. Joel White, Robt. Stephens and Brooklin Boatyard achieved that and much more. We have produced a CD with over 40 high resolution photographs of this handsome vessel. Please call and we will be happy to mail you one.
Accommodations KELLS is bright and airy below, with accommodations for two in sitting (4'-11") headroom should one desire to spend a night or two onboard. Finished Herreshoff Style with varnished mahogany trim on white flat panels. The cabin sole is raw teak. There are four fixed oval ports and one large hatch for light and ventillation while artificilal lighting provided by brass reading lamps at the settees and berths. The upholstery (not onboard when the photos were taken) is Hunter Green Sunbrella.
Starting forward there are 7' V-berths with bin type stowage under. Just aft of each berth are single settees P&S under which there is bin type storage under, in compartments outboard of the seat backs and in shelves with fiddles above. Next aft is the Galley to starboard with space for a single or double burner stove should one desire, polished Scandvik stainless steel sink with manual fresh water via the traditional brass hand pump and storage in three drawers and in lockers outboard. Opposite to port is a navigation area with ample room for charts or chart kits. The counter flips up to gain access to the ice chest and there is storage in the lockers outboard. A Portapotti is hidden, though convenient, under the companionway steps.
