Accomodation

A-4 layout with enclosed pilothouse and aft cockpit.

The aft cockpit offers high coamings for safety with teak varnished caprails. 5'10" long molded settees to port and starboard with cushions have hinged seats that flip up to access deep storage below. A teak varnished table folds out from the aft coaming, and a beautifully varnished teak grate keeps shoes dry on the cockpit deck.

Access to the pilothouse (6'10" headroom) is through a teak sliding door. "Wanderer" also has a hinged screened door for keeping bugs out on warm evenings. Large windows offer a panoramic waterview, and the side windows slide open while the center windshield hinges open for cross breeze. White curtains on tracks provide privacy.
  • New Ultrasuede cushions throughout - tan
  • New Ultrasuede pillows - tan w/brick red piping to match curtains
  • New Ultrasuede curtains throughout - brick red
  • All ports resealed

The helm is to port with a very traditional teak steering wheel. Wonderful visibility, the helm and mate have flip-up seats with new Ultrasuede cushions. The mate seat to stbd has a flip-up table. Aft and to stbd in the pilothouse is the nav station with a large teak chart table that opens to access chart and instrument storage. At night this cabin is illuminated by a 12V overhead light and a new goose-neck brass cabin light over the chart table.

Down the companionway is the main salon (6'7" headroom). Solid teak cabin sole and classic bronze hardware give the interior a rich antique quality. A solid teak table on center has 2 large leaves that fold up to expose bottle storage beneath. Natural light and air pour through (4) rectangular opening cabin ports. New curtains on tracks dress up these ports and can be drawn for privacy. (3) new 12V brass cabin lights are mounted on the salon bulkheads and (1) 12V overhead light is mounted to the molded headliner on center.

The 6'4" L-settee to port converts to make a comfortable double-berth. Hiding below the new Ultrasuede cushions are flip-up seat covers that access an AC/DC freezer box and refrigerator box. Storage above the L-settee is in 2 deep cabinets with shelves and on a hullside shelf with fiddle.

To stbd in the main salon is a 5'4" bench settee. A removable panel in the fwd bulkhead lengthens this into a 6'7" long berth. Battery storage is below the settee, and a microwave hides behind a curtain above. Storage above the stbd settee is in 2 deep cabinets and on a hullside shelf above the microwave. Additional storage is in 3 drawers and behind 2 flip-down doors behind the seat back.

The galley (6'8" headroom) is forward of the salon and to port, with all necessary amenities for cruising. See below for details.

The enclosed head and shower compartment are across from the galley, to stbd. Counters are GRP with a single basin stainless steel sink providing hot & cold pressure fresh water. The new faucet pulls out and fits into a bulkhead mount to create a shower. A shower curtain slides around a track above and a varnished teak grate below covers the shower sump. A new cowl vent above, 1 fixed rectangular port, and 1 round opening bronze port provide light and ventilation in the head. Storage is in (4) hullside cubbies with doors and 1 deep cabinet next to the sink.

Furthest forward is the fwd cabin (6'3.5" headroom). The 6'2" long v-berths have new Ultrasuede cushions and storage below in 2 large cabinets. Access to the chain locker is below the berth and via a teak door in the forepeak. Additional storage is above the berth on hullside shelves and behind hullside flip-down cabinet doors.

A vanity aft and to port provides another stainless steel sink with hot & cold pressure fresh water and a mirror above. Storage is in cabinets above and below the sink. Across the cabin to stbd is a large hanging locker with a teak louvered door. Round bronze ports to port and stbd and an overhead hatch open to let in light and air. Curtains on tracks provide privacy in this cabin as well.

Galley/Laundry

"Wanderer's" galley provides ample storage for dry and cold goods. A fold-down cover over the stove as well as two fold-out extensions create important counter space. The stainless steel sink is on the fwd bulkhead, with hot & cold pressure water and a manual fresh water pump to conserve battery power. To port of the sink is a 2-burner propane stove - two steel propane tanks are stowed safely in the propane locker on deck. Storage is in a slider cabinet above the counter, in a cabinet below the sink, and on deep shelves below the stove. Additional storage is on a shelf and in a drawer to port of the stove, and within 2 large hullside cabinets, a flip-down door cabinet, and a drawer and 2 smaller cabinets below. Below this is a seat with a flip-up top that accesses an AC/DC refrigerated box with 6" insulation. A second refrigerated box and freezer are below the port L-settee in the salon. The microwave hides behind a curtain above the stbd settee in the salon.
