VESSEL OVERVIEW

GEORGE is the ex-Sharon S and ex-Claybeth, one of the most gracious, classic yachts that Abeking ever built. Unfortunately, she was allowed to fall into disrepair after the owner's passing and sat for a number of years quietly going down hill while the estate was settled.

Rescued by a knowledgeable American Yachtsman she is presently (February 2006) undergoing a total restoration.  This restoration includes, but not limited to, extensive new plating, framing, all new tanks, wiring, and plumbing.

Originally designed as a four (4) stateroom yacht in the accommodations deck, and a main deck with enormous main salon and aft deck combination, with a separate formal dining salon.  The re-design retained the four staterooms in the accommodations deck, and converted the forward dining salon to an on deck master stateroom.  The main salon and enclosed aft deck were then redesigned to accommodate elegant dining, with a living area normally associated with a much larger yacht.

The upper or boat deck area has been redesigned to include a 15 foot by 20 foot sky lounge that could be converted to an additional stateroom if desired.

Access to the sky lounge is offered from the wheel house or through a new spiral staircase from the aft deck.

The original cockpit was modified to soften the appearance, provide gracious access to the water with an integrated swim platform and accommodate a retractable passelle.

The project is being untaken with the greatest care, attention to detail, highest quality materials, and professional supervision.

As of February 2006, the following work has been completed:  All metal work, including but not limited to, bulwarks, all tanks, extensive frames, and extensive hull plating.  The cockpit has been changed as per the attached drawings.  The bilge plumbing has been removed and work has started on the sky lounge modification.

On the accommodations deck, most of the interior has been removed, but is intact ready to be reinstalled.  On the main deck; conversion has been started on the new master stateroom and carpentry on the salon and aft deck areas.

We estimate that final completion will require 10 to 12 months, requiring funds in the area of 2.5 Million USD.

GEORGE therefore represents a rare opportunity to acquire a wonderful classic yacht, in virtually new condition, and one that will surely turn heads in any Port.

An extensive photo library showing the entire project as it progresses is available to interested parties.

It should be noted, GEORGE is constructed of Corten steel, with bottom plating of 10mm.   Patton Marine Surveyors has inspected all metal work, including tanks prior to the areas being closed, or wood work added.

COMMENTS

Perhaps one of the most elegant of all the classic motor yachts, GEORGE represents an opportunity to acquire a stunning yacht, with the ability for one to add the finishing touches and details they desire.  The vast majority of the major shipyard work has been completed, and we feel comfortable with the 7 to 9 month assessment of time and money to finish her.

Unusual for her length, GEORGE offers the main deck area of a much larger yacht, so the decision to add an on deck master was very much in keeping with the design of the yacht.
