Legacy Yachts have the look that has graced the shores of New England for generations. But beneath the water and beyond the finish is a boat that is built in a whole new way.

Each Legacy is built by hand to an owner’s specification in order to reflect your dreams and satisfy your appetite for cruising. And to give you an extra measure of comfort, each Legacy is built to meet or exceed American Bureau of Shipping, National Marine Manufacturers Association and the American Boat and Yacht Council standards.

Legacy Yachts are built on a modified deep-vee, full planing hull. Designed with wide chine flats, Legacy lifts onto plane at just 12 knots. Because of the boat’s relatively flat aft section good visibility from the helm is maintained throughout acceleration. On plane you’ll note great tracking and stability at operating speeds as low as 13 knots and as high as 33 knots. And because Legacy performs so well at a range of speeds, you may opt for the greater efficiency of a single diesel engine rather than twins.

Would it be a contradiction to our traditional look, to build our boats using the most modern of processes and the most advanced materials? We think the best traditions improve upon the past.

Infusion molding is a process that allows for a very thorough wetting out of the laminate with the vinylester resin to affect a uniform, tight bond and strength, without the excess weight that makes other hulls slower and less fuel efficient. Vinylester resin is used because of its resistance to osmotic blistering and although it costs a bit more than other resins, we use it exclusively to insure the very best outcome to the infusion process.

At the core of every Legacy is the strongest, most resilient laminate available today: Core-Cell coring gives stiffness and strength. Vinylester resin for total resistance to blistering. Load-bearing directional S-glass, and all bonded by infusion molding. The result is a laminate that is uniform throughout with an extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio and durability that lasts.

Core-Cell, with its greater resistance to shear strain, is three times tougher than the more brittle PVC foams. Its closed cell structure is completely resistant to water intrusion and deterioration.

While the greatest hull integrity is our goal, our infusion laminating technique offers another important benefit to our environment: cleaner air. Freedom Yachts is in early compliance with the Clean Air Act and we have created a healthier working environment for our employees.
